Gressenhall Museum says farewell to Suffolk Punch

They are known as the gentle giants of Gressenhall and attract thousands of visitors every year to the Farm and Workhouse near Dereham. But one of the Suffolk Punch horses, bought only last year, has failed to live up to the breed's reputation and is to be rehomed.

Dereham doctor finds fame on Masterchef

A children's doctor from Norfolk has made it through to the semi-finals of BBC1's MasterChef programme. Dr Tim Kinnaird, 36, left his job with Norfolk Community Health Care at the end of February after joining 135 contestants picked from thousands of hopefuls in the television competition for Britain's top amateur chef.

Two men accused of the murder of Fakenham man Steven Murphy appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Friday. Andrew Cameron, 28, of no fixed address, and 23-year-old Alexander Dewar, of St James Road, Blackpool, both appeared for the short hearing and their case has been adjourned for a further hearing on August 2.

Dereham bus firm sold to transport group

A bus firm launched 10 years ago in a Norfolk village has been bought by one of the country's largest public transport groups. KonectBus, which serves Swaffham, Dereham, Fakenham, Norwich and Watton, was bought by the Go Ahead Group on Tuesday for an undisclosed sum.

A47 roadworks postponed

Roadworks on the A47 near Dereham due to start today have been postponed till next week. The work, to the west of Dereham, involves replacing several concrete carriageway slabs with an asphalt surface on the westbound carriageway and repairs to Scarning Bridge on the east and westbound carriageways.
